KENINGAU:
A self-employed local man was killed when the vehicle he was driving
overturned while negotiating a bend along Bunsit-Bingkor road near
Kampung Tuntumulud here on Sunday afternoon.
Four passengers of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
District
police chief DSP Robert Salisip @ David said yesterday that the Endy
Paulus, 34, from Kampung Bandukan Baru Bingkor, died at the scene of the
accident at around 4 pm.
Robert said the police received information of the fatal accident at Kampung Tuntumulud Bingkor here from the public.
Initial
police investigation revealed that the self-accident involved a Ford
pick-up driven by the deceased who was proceeding from Bunsit to Bingkor
town. While negotiating a bend along along Bunsit-Bingkor road near
Kampung Tuntumulud, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and
overturned to the right bank of the road,” Robert said, adding that the
deceased was thrown out of the vehicle and died at the scene due to
severe head injuries.
He said the four passengers travelling with
the deceased, aged between 24 and 33 years old who are siblings and
relatives, were slightly injured.
“Reportedly, the group had gone
for a bath at the Bunsit River and were on their way home when the
accident happened,” Robert said.
He added that weather and road
conditions at the time of the accident were fine and that the body of
the deceased had been sent to the Keningau hospital for a post-mortem.
