WINNIPEG - A spurned teen, nude pictures and the Internet.
Mix those volatile ingredients together and you have a cautionary tale on the hazards of online social networking.
An 18-year-old Winnipeg man was sentenced Friday to six months in jail and two years probation after he posted nude pictures of his teenaged ex-girlfriend on Facebook.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the 16-year old victim, pleaded guilty earlier this year to distributing child pornography and criminal harassment.
“This is not a case where the court is dealing with someone whose motivations for distributing these images were based on sexual deviance, but rather revenge,” said defence lawyer Michelle Bright.
Court heard the man posted the pictures on a Facebook account he had established under a fictitious name and sent a link to friends of the girl’s new boyfriend.
The victim took the pictures when she was 15 and e-mailed them to the accused. Some of the pictures show the girl topless, covering her breasts with her hands. Others show her naked torso but don’t show her face.
The accused and his victim had been dating for about two years when the victim ended the relationship last March and soon after sought a protection order, said Crown attorney Terry McComb.
When the girl learned the photos had been posted on Facebook she notified police and the man was arrested.
The man was released on bail several days later and ordered to have no contact with the victim. He was taken back into custody after the girl reported he had e-mailed her to apologize.
“I’m sorry for ... everything I did,” he wrote. “I got charged with child pornography and that’s killer. It’s just my dumb fault, I’m sorry.”
When arrested, the man told police “I did it because I was hurt and upset,” McComb said.
“He said he did it all because he wanted to get back at her and particularly her new boyfriend,” the Crown attorney said.
In a pre-sentence report, the man told a probation officer he doesn’t like jail, “but he deserves it.”
Judge Kelly Moar called the man’s actions “totally reprehensible.”
“What you chose to do is something that unfortunately can never be undone,” Moar said. “There is no delete button on the Internet. These things float forever on the Internet.” Moar credited the man 2.5 months for time already served, reducing his remaining sentence to 3.5 months.

Oh come one boy, that's was a stupid thing to do if you've been dump by your girlfriend. Get a real life, face it . If she doesn't want you and then it's over. I know it will be painful, to think about her everyday, think about the moment when you are together. It's really hard to accept it but don't let her life become miserable with your childish action. If you really love her then let her go with her life. Posting your ex-GF pics in Facebook, and accused her to couple with you again. Peh, shame on you. I don't respect person who only think about theirself. So selfish.
Damn.. sa merapu ja ari ni in english, heh mo practice ni supaya my english can improve hohoho.. but butul sa tia respek ma orang camnie.. bikin malu diri sendiri ja..deh.
