CHENNAI: India's Tamil movie superstar Rajnikanth, who was hospitalised for allergic bronchitis, is recuperating well and has beeen advised rest for a couple of days, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI) Thursday.
On Friday, the 60-year-old actor was admitted in a private hospital and diagnosed with dehydration and food poisoning while shooting for his latest film Rana.
Although the superstar was discharged with doctors prescribing complete rest, he had to be readmitted to the hospital Wednesday after he complained of breathlessness and fever.
Aishwarya, Rajnikant's daughter and wife of actor Dhanush, said her father would be under observation for two days at the intensive care unit of St Isabelle Hospital and is responding well to the treatment.
She added that doctors have prohibited visitors and advised him complete rest for the next several days.
Meanwhile, concerned fans held special prayers wishing him good health, as this is the first time the iconic star has taken ill twice within a short period.
The film Rana, in which the Rajnikanth stars in a triple role with popular Bollywood heroine Deepika Padukone, is directed by K.S. Ravikumar. - Bernama
